6/19/2010 “Golds” Even Out
The Saginaw “Old Golds” saw their record drop to 6 and 6 with a 21 to 10 butt beating by the Rochester Grangers in another away game. Bingo Long has nothing over on this bunch. The field (Farmer’s Museum’s open field) was awesome, the weather (85 and sunny) was awesome, and the Grangers (undefeated this season) were very awesome. Rochester avenged a 21-6 pounding by the “Golds” in State Tournament action from September of last year. Rick “Slink” Spitz continued his torrid hitting, going 4 for 4 (11 hits in his last 4 games), Kevin “Big Wheel” Beemer, also smacked out 4. McCauley, “Shorty” Short & Dost chipped in with 3 each. The fielding in the outfield by the “Golds” was reminiscent of the Blind Boys of Alabama. Saginaw came out injury free, but not the Grangers. A Rochester player collided with “Bull Dog” Daig (formally “Baby Bull Daig”), the two recovered after nearly knocking each other out. “Big Wheel” rolled the Grangers catcher. But the highlight reel was when two Grangers almost totaled each other out on an infield fly. A head concussion and separated shoulder looked most certain. The one with the concussion of coarse came back into play 10 minutes later (Yes we are nuts). The “Professor” shocked his teammates with a hit & a putout, bt Richard’s highlight was eating five chocolate covered brownies. Griffey “Splinter” Tesch -debuted his new uniform. Heidi missed the game with medical issues-the team’s prayers are with her.
Next games: @ Ludington June 27th @ 11:00 & 1:00 for a doubleheader. Each Game to be 7 innings.
