“Old Golds Lose, 19-12”

The Saginaw Old Golds gave the defending Vintage Base Ball world champion Lah Dee Dahs a run for their money before dropping a 19-12 decision on Saturday at Greenfield Village.  The Old Gold led 12-9 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Lah Dee Dahs struck for five runs each in the eighth and ninth innings.  Even though the La Dee Dahs led 14-12 going into the bottom of the ninth, Vintage rules dictate teams must play a complete nine innings.  John Piersall was 4-for4 with 3 RBIS to lead the Old Golds.  Richard Curry went 3-for-3, scored three runs and knocked in two more.  Adam McCauley was 3-for-4, with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored.  The Old Golds next play the Midland Mighty Riverhogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at The Tridge in Midland.  For a complete Old Golds schedule go to www.saginawoldgolds.com
